We'll cover how to breathe throughout exercises; managing intra-abdominal pressure; optimizing pelvic floor function; activating your deep core; and modifying exercises for your changing body.

Postpartum Fitness Class

It's common to hear, "6 weeks after baby is born you can return to exercise."  But what does “returning to exercise” mean? Where do I begin? If you are a postpartum mama and you have similar questions, then we have a fitness class for you! In this class you'll learn how to reconnect to your fitness foundation and progress your training intensity with a guided approach from our skilled trainer(s). Each class consists of strength training circuits while developing your deep-core and optimizing your pelvic floor function.

Meet your Instructor

Laura Thompson,

Pre and Postnatal Coach

Growing up, sports were always a big part of Laura’s life. After college, however, she was missing a physical outlet until she was introduced to the bodybuilding community. After competing in her first bodybuilding competition, she became hooked. After 8 more competitions in bikini and figure divisions, Laura became pregnant with her daughter, Tallulah. Navigating fitness while pregnant was challenging. At the time, evidence-based information regarding prenatal training and postpartum recovery was inconsistent and scarce. Relying on her bodybuilder mindset, she decided to just keep pushing her workouts without understanding the feedback from her body. Laura’s postpartum recovery left her frustrated, and confused. It wasn't until she became pregnant with her son, Kaber, that she learned about prenatal and postpartum exercise specialists and pelvic floor physical therapists. Working with the experts at PTA through pelvic floor physical therapy led to her newfound passion. She decided to pursue a career in helping women train while being mindful of their changing bodies during and after pregnancy. Laura’s goal is to share the knowledge she’s gained and empower women to confidently train throughout all seasons of life.
